The Appeal

The History and Paperwork

• The car hails from the Ford era of Jaguar being made in 1994
• The XJS was understood to have been initially used by Jaguar for PR purposes
• The car was first registered in August 1995 under registration number N558SWK
• The XJS was subsequently sold by Woodford Jaguar in March 1999
• At this stage the car had only covered around 5,000 miles
• The owner who bought the car in 2007 retained it right up until 2019
• In 2008, at around 76,000 miles, the car was put into dry storage
• The previous owner bought it out of dry storage in late 2019
• For the next year or so the car underwent a full recommissioning
• The current owner acquired the car via Car & Classic in May 2022
• There is a good level of paperwork included with the car
• This includes the current V5 registration document
• The current MOT is also present in hard copy
• Mot carried out on 12 April 2025 and no Advisories
• Mot certificates no longer issued but available online
• This is an advisory free test which is valid until April 2024#
• Numerous previous hard copy MOTs are also on hand
• The original service book is included documenting the maintenance history
• This contains 11 main dealer stamps up to 76,398 miles in 2008
• There are numerous invoices included for maintenance work undertaken
• These show in excess of £1,000 spent in the last year

The Interior

• The cabin of the XJS is exquisitely trimmed in Connolly leather and Walnut veneer
• The pristine leather is finished in a Doeskin hue
• The heavily bolstered front seats are stitched into horizontal box pleats
• The front seats are fully electrically adjustable 
• A minor amount of wear is reported to the driver’s offside bolster
• The rear seats are small and identically trimmed 
• These present in a good overall condition too
• The dashboard is a blend of leather top and bottom panels
• The centre section is finished with a pristine walnut veneer panel
• The white on black instruments are housed in a hooded binnacle
• These sit behind the original, black, four-spoke Jaguar steering wheel
• The centre console houses the heating controls and Alpine radio cassette head unit
• The door cards are trimmed in leather and walnut with chromed accents
• Everything in the cabin is reported to be fully working
• Complementary coloured carpets are edge bound for luxury and longevity
• The good-sized boot is fully finished in hard wearing brown carpet
• Original attaché cased tools are present together with full sized spare wheel
  
  

The Exterior

• The car presents in a gleaming Regency Red Pearl metallic livery
• The condition of the original paintwork appears to be excellent overall
• It seems to exude a deep shine and no significant imperfections are reported
• The minimal brightwork shines deeply and provides attractive contrast
• The car sits purposefully on its original lattice alloy wheels
• These are 8J x 16-inch items and present in a good un-kerbed condition
• Jaguar headed centre caps are fitted all round
• These are shod with a mixed set of tyres in 225/55 configuration
• All light lenses and cabin glass appear original and undamaged
• The requisite marque and model badges appear present and correct
  
  

The Mechanics

• This example is fitted with the inline-six cylinder 4.0L AJ6 engine
• This was originally rated at around 245bhp with 289Ib-ft or torque
• Power is fed to the rear wheels via a four speed ZF4HP24E automatic gearbox
• This car is fitted with a sports suspension pack
• This is understood to include uprated Bilstein dampers
• Upgraded antiroll bars and bushes are also part of this pack
• This configuration makes for a powerful but refined sports GT car
• The engine bay appears to be very clean and original
• All visible inner panels and suspension mounts appear clean and undamaged
• The underside of the car looks straight and original
• Plenty of preservative underseal appears still present
• The documentation attests to the car having been diligently maintained
• Much has clearly been spent on keeping the car in top order
• The recent fitment of a heavy-duty Exide battery is noted
• The current owner attests to the car starting and driving very well
