THE APPEAL

It’s no secret that the Porsche Cayenne met with a mixed reception at launch. An SUV from Porsche? Heresy! But naysayers were soon eating their words once they got behind the wheel and experienced the Cayenne’s supercar-like briskness.

Intertwining practicality with performance and legendary Porsche build quality, the Cayenne paved the way for the modern sports utility vehicle, which now dominates the market. The Cayenne may be seen fairly often - but it's not often you'll see the rare Turbo S which was introduced to rival the Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG in 2006. With a twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine under the bonnet affording the Cayenne with a five second 0-60 time and top speed of 171 mph, this was a formidable sports car which you could also take on a family holiday - quite unheard of for the time.

This example, carrying a relatively light 85,038 miles, is in fine fettle with a highly original, well-appointed interior that's full of nicely-cosseted leather and suede, in a highly desirable extended leather trim. Very well-presented interior cabin, swathed in leather and suede
The front seats are presented in excellent condition with no obvious signs of wear
Black leather is presenting exceptionally well, with no marks or rips that we noticed
Porsche crest is inset to each of the headrests
The roof lining is in excellent condition, with no rips or tears
The steering wheel is looking fantastic for its age, with the leather showing no signs of any cracking
The door cards, carpets and dash look fantastic and show no obvious signs of wear or cracks
Kick plates on the door sills are showing light signs of wear
As far as we are aware, all the electronics within the vehicle are said to be working well
There is a plethora of optional extras, including the desirable BOSE sound system.

THE EXTERIOR

Black metallic paintwork is in fair order, with some chips and scratches
As far as we could see, the panels around the car are straight and show no signs of dents or dings
The 20” alloy wheels would benefit from a refurb and are showing signs of curb rash
The lenses on the front light clusters look in good condition with the lenses being free from sun damage and fading
Rear light clusters equally look in good condition with no fading or sun damage to report
The panoramic roof is in great shape, with the mechanism still working nicely
We saw no defects on the roof. with no signs of any wear or stains to the glasswork

THE MECHANICS

Fitted with a 4.5 litre V8 engine, this Porsche Cayenne Turbo S is capable of producing 514 bhp
This is the flagship spec that Porsche offered at the time
Six-speed Tiptronic gearbox is smooth between the gears with no crunching that we noticed
It idles well with no blue or white smoke or unwanted noises
The engine bay is presented well and the engine looks fantastic, sitting true within the engine bay
The car is reported to drive as it should do with no known or apparent faults
