The Appeal
If you’re going to recreate one of the best-loved and rarest cars of the 1960s, best you get it right. When Ant Anstead and the team at Evanta decided to celebrate 50th anniversary of the original 19 Zagato DB4s, the result was impressive.
It’s a point proven by this pretty 2016 Evanta, one of only believed 20 built. It is finished in stunning Peal Black metallic with a beautifully detailed black interior and has covered just 9,000 miles from new. The car was built for the current keeper.
Each Evanta was built using DB7 donor vehicles using lightweight bodywork with elements of glassfibre, kevlar and carbon fibre. Most were fitted with 6L V12 Aston Martin engines, but this car is equipped with a well detailed LS3 V8 engine and a 5spd manual gearbox. The sound needs to be heard to be believed.
The car is in really excellent condition . It carries a usefully long MoT valid to April 2027 with no advisories, and a host of old MoT's in the file. With original DB4 Zagatos costing seven-figure sums, and that’s if you can find one, here is a chance to acquire an equally rare, aesthetically accurate evocation with proper Aston Martin provenance. The difference? It’s a classic you can actually use and enjoy.

The Evanta won the approval of Aston cognoscenti for a simple reason - the DB4 Zagato is extremely well done. Aside from a couple of very minor tells, it is extremely difficult to separate the evocation from the real deal. The story continues inside where the attention to detail really shines, notably in the black bucket seats, the quilted console trim and the classic-style dials in their Aston-aping cowl.
This rare examples black metallic paintwork really adds to the Aston-themed mix. It is great condition throughout, helped by the low mileage amassed by the same keeper since the car was one month old. There are a few minor stone chips to note.
The Mechanics
- Vendor advises car is fitted with a LS3 V8 engine
- Five-speed manual gearbox fitted
- Low mileage confirmed by MOT records
- No advisories on current MOT
The underpinnings of the Evanta are derived from the DB7, giving it proper provenance. Most were fitted with an evolution of the ‘7’s V12 engine, but this car is fitted with a special LS3 V8.
The current MOT shows no mechanical or running gear advisories.
