Description
Supplied new in 1969 to a gentleman who so loved the car he could not bear it to leave the family, so in 1978 he sold it to his son and wrote a detailed letter to him outlining the foibles and service requirements of the cherished car. His son appears to have kept the car for the next two decades rebuilding it completely on a new zinc coated chassis in 1982 until it was acquired in 1997 by Mark Newman the then voice of AA Roadwatch.
Mark loaned the car to be tested in Classic Car magazine (January 1999)to be test driven by no less than Grand Prix design genius Gordon Murray, who clearly loved the car as was detailed in Martin Buckley’s charming article.
I acquired the Elan in 2010 and had the engine and rebuilt with unleaded valve seats by Nick Stagg Engineering in 2013, the gearbox overhauled and the car painted soon afterwards.
She is in great condition inside and out and will be MoT’d before sale.
Great fun to drive, this Elan turns heads everywhere and is sure to put a smile on any driver’s face!
