1995 Mini 1293 cc fast road spec. This unique and very special fast road mini has been built with no expense spared by a retired engineer. Every part of the build has been carefully planned and done properly costing around £14800 not inc labour. The shell was stripped to bare metal and rebuilt on a rotisserie using only Heritage panels. It then had a full respray in Tartan Red with a black roof. All of the cavities have been waxoiled injected so to keep the shell in this condition for years to come. The rear subframe was replaced with a genuine replacement and the front subframe cleaned and power coated. The suspension is made up of a coil spring conversion, Hi Lows, Gaz Gold adjustable shocks, 1. 5 degree negative camber bottom arms, adjustable rear camber plates and a KAD anti roll bar at the rear. The brakes are alloy 4 pot calipers, 8. 4 inch vented front discs with EBC green stuff pads and Minifins are the rear. The 1293 cc engine was built by Bill Richards and is a masterpiece producing 85 BHP. It starts ‘on the button’ with an electronic ignition with 4 pack coil for total reliability. The gearbox has been rebuilt and has a KAD quick shift which really adds to the fun of driving. The interior has been fully sound proofed and is comfortable and immaculate. This mini was created for both husband and wife to drive so offers both comfort and fun. It will accelerate rapidly through the gears with a bark of induction and the feel of being on the RAC rally or just potter through town. It will fly down the road or happily sit at 60 mph at 3000 rpm while listening to the radio. It is an exceptionally well engineered mini which offers a fast road or long distance tourer depending on your mood, which is rare to find and very difficult to achieve. The suspension has been set up for comfort but also precise sharp handling which is instantly noticeable as when at speed the slightest movement of the wheel puts you into the corner with fantastic feel, confidence and feed back. It has covered just 1700 miles in the last 3 years since completion so is now running well but still looking fresh. Creating a period mini this good would not just be very costly but also takes many months of careful planning and time. I have a flash card with around 100 photographs of the complete build and also a thick file with every invoice from start to finish. This mini is ‘one to keep’.
