MG TC 1946 – Lovely example that drives superbly
The MG TC was the first post war car produced by MG and was every inch the traditional British sports car. It was an immediate success with good performance curtesy of the XPAG engine and entertaining handling. Nearly all the production run of 10, 000 cars were exported and today original UK examples with provenance are highly prized
Milestone Classics are delighted to offer for sale one of the nicest TC’s you could wish to find. The car was the subject of a full photographic restoration in the mid-1980’s by Malick Cars, Kettering to an extremely high standard.
Work included:
· Body Removed form Chassis
· Chassis stripped and repainted
· Wooden rails/ body members replaced as required
· New rear wings, wooden floors & running boards
· Reconditioned Radiator
· Reconditioned shock absorbers & re-tempered/ reset rear springs
· Brakes overhauled including, wheel bearings and seals replaced
· Engine rebuilt – pistons/ rings, main bearings, big end bearings
· Carbs re-built
· Carpets replaced/ seats re-upholstered/ new side screens
Since 2014 the car has been owned and maintained by a Bentley engineer and the car is a real credit to his knowledge and skill. She is one of the best driving TC’s that you could hope to find. The car starts, drives and stops superbly, all components function well and the black paint work and green interior has a lovely patina.
The history file contains invoices/ photographs of the restoration, old MOT’s, invoices and a press article featuring our car being recovered by the AA from the M1 on 2nd November 1959 - first day the motorway was opened to the public
