The Appeal
Robust, lively and, of course, elegant, the Triumph TR3 was capable on the regulation courses and rally stages as well as for its intended use — the American highways. This stylish ’61 ’A’ leans into the first‑gear with a full upgrade programme aimed at success in competition.
At the heart of the changes lies a robust TR4 gearbox with electric overdrive. It is fitted with the car’s correct Standard 2.1 L engine, rebuilt in 2007 and reputed to run well. Other works include wiring upgrades, 4/2/1 exhaust manifold, electronic ignition, upgraded pedal box, electric fan and circuit breaker. A set of rally instruments and accessories and a few period spacers and decals complete the picture.
The car is very good inside and out, and the vendor states that “nothing is required.” It is therefore ready for the sort of buyer who enjoys serious competitive driving.
The seller states:
“Impeccable handling, suspension, brakes, and road holding… Vehicle prepared for regularity rallies, road‑legal.”
