The Appeal
The 3000M channelled the looks of the Vixen and Tuscan, but it was in fact a bold departure for the tiny Blackpool firm. Out went the spaceframe chassis, in came multi-tube frame that was easier to repair, and the whole car was made much more comfortable and usable than what went before. Thankfully the essential analogue feel and gruffness that make a TVR a TVR were lost.
Just 654 were built over seven years. This very tidy 1975 car has an interesting history because it was owned by the same family from six months old until 2023. The owner indicates that the low displayed mileage of 61,400 is correct, and with that history, it certainly could be, although it isn’t verified. It is a really pretty car that was resprayed in 2020 in silver with darker grey side stripes. The vinyl roof was also refreshed and incorporates a Webasto-style sunroof. The current keeper acquired the car in 2023 and has removed the bumper blades, although these are with the car. Other improvements include, refurbished suede-rimmed steering wheel and new mats.
The grunty 3L ‘Essex’ V6 was last serviced in November 2025. There is also a helpful recent voluntary MOT from April 2025 that carries no advisories.
Stylish, entertaining and the definition of a 70s driver’s car, any 3000M is a treat. With all its recent work, this one looks tempting.
The vendor says:
“Needs for nothing. I have added a new set of royal blue HT leads. It had its last service on 25th November 2025 incl, including oil filter and oil change, new spark plugs, gear lever pin, sump washer, gear oil & diff oil.
“Finally, how would you summarise the vehicle? A fine and excellent condition / running vintage sports.”

This 3000M was owned by the previous husband-and-wife team for a remarkable 48 years, having been purchased in 1978 with just 2,500 miles on the clock. Together, they toured extensively across the UK and Europe — taking in Le Mans, Venice, and the Italian Alps — before settling into lighter use from the mid-1980s onwards. Along the way, thoughtful mechanical upgrades were carried out to enhance both reliability and driving enjoyment, and in 2020 the car was entrusted to marque specialists Central TVR for a thorough restoration.
