The Appeal
What makes classic Mini ownership so compelling is that there is a Mini for virtually everyone - and if you can’t find the Mini you want, you can make one. This 1979 1000 proves that philosophy because it mixes some neat classic retro touchpoints with the sort of luxury usually associated with later Minis.
The vendor bought the car in 2012, shortly after a recorded colour change from yellow to white. He tells us that the car was restored seven years ago, work that included stripping the body and interior, respraying it in creamy white with black roof and fitting a new full leather interior in matching colour scheme. Even the Smiths dials were replaced with black on cream items to fit the theme. As you can see in the photos, it’s been really tastefully done and delivers a classic-look Mini with a gem of a cabin.
The history file documents the work. We’re told that it has been little used since completion, which seems supported by MOT records and odometer readings. There are a few points to note in the photos, but judging by the photos, they could be lived with for now or improved as you go.
The vendor says:
“A fine example of British Leyland engineering, a delight to drive and has proven to be a reliable vehicle over many years.”
