The Appeal
The Alfa Romeo 166 was launched in continental Europe in 1998 before arriving in the UK the following year, replacing the distinctly angular 164 as the marque’s flagship executive saloon. Beneath its elegant and sculptural bodywork sat reworked Lancia Kappa underpinnings, while the engine range extended from the 2.0-litre Twin Spark to Alfa Romeo’s celebrated Busso V6.
The first owner of VX02 XTF chose especially well, specifying bold Rosso Alfa paintwork together with the soulful Busso engine. Renowned for its rich, melodious soundtrack and polished intake runners, the V6 remains one of Alfa Romeo’s most charismatic powerplants and gives the 166 a level of charm rarely found in conventional executive saloons.
This tastefully specified example also features a richly appointed black MOMO leather cabin with upholstered seat backs, wood veneer trim, satellite navigation, and heated electrically adjustable front seats.
Having covered relatively few miles since its replacement timing belt, and benefiting from a suspension refresh in 2020, this 166 is further accompanied by an MOT valid until spring 2027. Stylish, comfortable and distinctive, it would make an appealing retro daily driver for any Alfisti, as well as a refined companion for weekend drives and longer road trips. image.png1.61 MB
