This Ford Fiesta XR2 is an unmodified example of the engaging retro hot hatch, which has recently been used in the film and television industry as a 1980s period prop. Benefitting from a major service, an anti-corrosion treatment as well as some recent bodywork repairs, it would now make a fine addition to any collection of desirable modern classics or a nostalgic companion for B-road blasts.
It was previously owned by a film and television car hire company, to be used as a 1980s prop in period productions.
It now benefits from a major service in December 2021, at 73, 203 miles.
This well-presented XR2 is finished in Strato Silver, with black and orange sill decals, over a light grey fabric interior with red and black pinstripes on the seat centre panels.
It rides on the correct set of 13-inch ‘pepper pot’ alloy wheels, shod in Toyo Proxes CF2 tyres.
Equipment includes manually operated front windows, a heated rear windscreen and a set of front-mounted fog lamps.
The original Ford radio has been professionally converted to Bluetooth by Chrome London, while keeping its one speaker original setup to maintain the period feel.
Original XR2 head rest inserts are also supplied with the vehicle.
This XR2 comes complete with a super-soft indoor car cover, ultimate outdoor cover and a 12v CTEK battery conditioner.
The car will be supplied with its original handbook pack, an original 1980s sales brochure, and a folder of previous MOT certificates dating back to 1995, tax discs and maintenance invoices.
12 Months MoT (expires 06/ 12/ 23), no advisories.
The service in December 2021 at 73, 203 miles, technicians at Perranwell Classic Car Garage replaced the engine oil, oil filter, coolant, front brake discs and pads, the nearside rear brake cylinder, the rear brake shoes and the brake fluid.
Technicians also lubricated the distributor points, cleaned the air filter, welded a corroded water pipe, regreased the wheel bearings, welded a hole in the offside rear arch, cleaned and re-crimped the offside rear sill, cleared the underside of surface rust, patched a small exhaust leak, and applied a Waxoyl coating to the underbody.
Prior to this, the engine oil, oil filter, coolant, transmission oil and air filter were replaced in March 2021.
Its original Strato Silver paintwork presents very well, with some very minor blemishes on the bumpers and door edges. There is also some very minor blistering but appears in very good original order considering the car’s age.
Inside, the fabric seats are very slightly discoloured, and there is light creasing on the bolsters.
Some similar creasing and indentation can be seen in the door card inserts, otherwise the cabin appears in very good original order considering the car’s age.
Under the bonnet is the carburettor-fed 1. 6-litre Kent Crossflow inline-four, which sends around 84bhp to the front wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
