1995 Ford Escort Mexico 1. 6L, a special edition car from Ford. Built to celebrate 25 years of the original London to Mexico rally in which Ford famously took part and won in 1970.
3 owners from new covering just 31k miles in 28 years. MOT until 31st October. The car drives like new and goes and stops like it should.
Outside:
Finished in Radiant red and speaking honestly this 3 door is not a show car but with some work could be. Showing signs of its age with a few stone chips and a couple of car park dings (all very easily repaired) but most importantly no rust as kept in a garage all year round and only does a few trips in the summer (current SORN). The car is more than presentable with the worst bit being the black plastic trim, which sits on top of the number plate (broken corner - which I have). The original steel wheels have been replaced with RS wheels which I had professionally restored (not just painted). Matching Yokohama tyres all round in excellent condition. Factory fitted front fog lights (optional extra at time of purchase).
Interior:
Interior is in good order with a mix of original trim (door cards) which need recovering to match seats (escort mk6 RS Recaro). The seats are in good / average condition no tears etc but to get it looking great they would need re upholstering (sorry I don’t have the original seats). The car has a ford 6000 CD stereo in full working order (no original single din radio). Please note the car has only one set of keys (red key is missing). The roof lining isn’t ripped but sagging in the rear so needs taking out and re sticking. Sunroof doesn’t leak and in good working order. The car comes with the limited paperwork all presented in a history file along with various pieces of memorabilia associated to the car.
