Description
I am with great regret listing my 1992 Daimler Double Six (Jaguar Sovereign XJ12) for sale to make room for a new addition.
This car is one of the finest examples of this model you will find on these islands. Originally sold in Japan in 1992, this car was held by the original owner for 35 years in Osaka, rarely driven and dry stored before being returned to the UK when the original owner moved to London where it was used sparingly to ferry him around central London.
I purchased this car in 2022 and have spent over €5, 000 returning it to concours condition. Everything works on this car including:
Central Locking
Cruise Control
Air Conditioning
ABS - Although currently showing a warning light, system is operational
Fully electric windows
Headlamp wipers and washers
Aftermarket Stereo system with CD, Bluetooth and USB connector feeding 8 speaker surround sound system
The 5. 3 Liter 12 Cylinder Daimler Double Six was the highest trim level that Jaguar provided of their legendary XJ Series 3 model (available from 1972 until 1992). This is one of the last examples to leave the Coventry plant, and offers the highest level or refinement that Jaguar offered to its Series 3 XJ range.
When companies ordered XJ6's for their C-Suite, directors and Senior Managers, Jaguar would provide the Daimler Double Six 12 Cylinder for the Chairman of the Board. The same recognisable shape but with the much more powerful 5. 3 litre V12 engine and subtle styling details such as the Daimler fluted grille and full walnut dash and centre console distinguising it from the standard XJ6 or XJ12. This was the car of UK Prime Ministers from 1972 until 1992. It was the car that ferried generations of UK Royalty from Queen Elisabeth II to Prince Charles to Princess Diana to public events.
This particular example has low mileage of just under 73, 000 miles and a full service history (although mostly in Japanese) and is running perfectly.
It has had three careful owners who have always stored it indoors in a dry environment. Never having been driven on UK Winter roads it does not have the corrosion or rust issues that affect many UK sourced cars of this era.
I am gutted to sell this car. It is perfect for ferrying around grandparents and parents and making them feel like royalty for the day.
The next owner will have very little to do to make this car a concours example that can be shown at any Classic Car show. Originally Sold in Japan in 2002.
Imported by the original owner to the UK in 2018
Imported to Ireland by the current owner in 2022.
