In February 2017 I bought this Thruxton from a great friend and very clever engineer. He bought it in 1967 when it was a few months old. I've known the bike since 1993 and in that time it has not been used much by either of us so I suspect the mileage of just less than 10000 is genuine.
It runs well and sounds great. In my ownership I've had the competition magneto refurbished, I bought new tyres and had both Dunlop rims respoked with stainless. I've changed the top yoke and handlebars to make it more comfortable to ride. I kept the original yoke and bars. I bought a new exhaust and silencer and put on a centre stand. It's nice to ride and the brakes are exceptionally good. It really is a great bike but I'm just not using it and have ridden it only a few hundred miles in 6 years. So it is time to let it go.
