Space, Pace and Grace was the old advertising slogan for Jaguar, and that's certainly true with this rare S-Type Sport 6-speed manual.
Registered in June 2005 and powered by a turbocharged version of the 2. 7 litre V6 diesel engine, it's definitely got some grunt to it, both low-down (it pulls quite happily from 30mph in 5th) and at the top end.
Finished in an attractive shade of metallic red with a contrasting two-tone light and dark grey leather interior, this is the more sporty version aimed at a slightly younger market than 'traditional' Jaguars. This means that instead of wooden inserts to the door cappings and dash there are carbon fibre and/ or leather. Additionally, on the outside the grille is body coloured rather than chrome. And yet, as an unashamed fan of traditional Jaguar trappings, this does all work very well and it's a lovely place to spend time.
On the road the car drives extremely well, with no untoward noises, rattles or squeaks, which is impressive considering the car has covered 146, 000 miles. As said above, it's got plenty of grunt, but isn't too bad on fuel unless you've got a very heavy right foot. Certainly I drove it back almost 60 miles the day I picked it up and it didn't use an excessive amount.
