40 AMP 1963 (despite DVLA stating 1964) 88" Rover 8 FFR.
ERM, 59-EK-65 Arrived at CVD Irvine on 29-11-63, then to Royal Scots Fusiliers on 20-2-64.
I bought this vehicle as a total wreck, it had been standing for about 25 years and was threatened with being broken up for parts.
This is the scarce 40 amp version - not the more common 90 amp.
Parts replaced is far too long to list but I have gone to some length to avoid buying the Britpart rubbish. The tilt is very good quality but not quite correct for the rivet counters, the complete tilt frame is new old stock genuine Land Rover which cost a fortune!
All original cappings, tailboard parts, screen etc., were re-galvanised. Doors are new replacement, new screen glass. All indicators, tail and side lights are complete new old stock units, speedo is genuine new old stock. New old stock screen wash kit.
The engine was totally seized so re-bored with new pistons, big and little ends, head and block re-surfaced, unleaded valve seats, new valves and springs, crank still standard. Still has genuine Rover exhaust fitted. On it's original chassis (number clearly visible), engine, gearbox match logbook.
Warner socket cover is free and now houses 7 pin socket. There are still a few jobs which I can't seem to find the time to get done, for example, there is still some air in the brake system, pedal needs second pump. Shoes are new Ferodo and Girling, brake master cylinder is new Girling, all other cylinders are Delphi. New S. U. carb, original Solex can go with it, twin tanks (new) and change over tap on bulkhead.
I am not chanting this as a "nut and bolt" restoration as seems to be the current fashion but those ones are usually just a collection of Britpart items. You won't find another 40 amp in a hurry, these are pretty scarce! This vehicle is running on (new) single 12 volt battery and new alternator.
Happy to answer any questions and send more photos on request.
