Description
1971 VW Bay Camper
This is an original UK RHD drive bus. It has never been welded and is probably the straightest van i have ever seen. It is a matching numbers van with its original 1600 engine, gearbox and front beam.
It has been lowered on Type 2 Detectives dropped spindles with Bilstein shocks all around and drives lovely.
I have just retrimmed the interior and it has a full width Rusty Lee rock and roll bed. There is a brand new double unit with sink and hob from Kustom Interiors.
It has a Danbury poptop with the original canvas - it can actually (if you so wish!) sleep 5 people - two in the bed, two in the roof and one over the cab seats.
It has quite a bit of history with it including the original service booked which has some services stamped in there.
The reason it is in such good condition is that it looks like it was exported to new zealand in 1972 and then brought back to the UK in 2011 at which point it was stored in a garage up to just recently.
It had a recent fresh repaint by Irvs Restos (look them up for the quality of their work) as the original paint was just to far gone to be saved.
I am only selling as i got this in a part exchange and i don't really 'do' shiny vans - i'm more of a patina type of guy! But it really is a beautiful van which someone will love.
I have a video, but please contact me for this.
