This is an Anniversary Edition in Caribbean Blue, being number 202 of 250, and delivered 1st August 1996. If you are reading this you will probably be aware that this UK special edition is based on the Rev 3 GT T-bar with a number of cosmetic extras such as grey wheels and badges, stainless steel kick plates, and the wood/ leather Momo steering wheel. The promotional material at the time actually said it was “guaranteed to be a future classic”. This car is in very good condition, having been maintained well over the years. The history file is very thorough, with clear evidence of the amount of work done, and supports the mileage (just over 81, 500). I have traced the owner history back as much as I could and the car appears to have been kept in a domestic garage for most of its life, with limited good weather use only. We have spent a disproportionate amount of time, and money, returning the car to its original condition. Since we have owned this car we have sourced, mainly thanks to fellow enthusiasts, and replaced with originals a number of parts including a genuine Toyota exhaust. The latest work has been refurbishing the Momo wheel and windscreen wipers. I should mention that the registration plate is original and cannot be split from the car (that is a condition of sale). The list of work done is simply too long to list but worth noting is T-bar and door seals, refurbished wheels, correct colour badging, and even original brochures. For context, this is our third MR2 MkII and it has been an absolute joy to own. However, I admit that I am getting to the age where I struggle to use and enjoy our cars and so the thinning of the cars is continuing. Our plan is to reduce our “collection” down to three “special” cars and we have been selling a couple of cars each year. We are now down to four, of which we will likely retain just one MR2. I mention this since we may, again, decide that this is the car we will keep. This really is a car for a knowledgeable enthusiast, someone who will appreciate what it represents and aim to improve it further. Thank you for your attention and feel free to contact me for any further information.
Edit - To save time and answer some questions:
No, the number plate is not for sale alone. It is original and belongs with the car.
Yes, it was in the concours at the National Day. It came fourth and I have attached copies of the score sheets and its position.
No, I am not interested in selling to a dealer. This belongs in the hands of a fellow enthusiast.
Yes, we have owned at least one Mk2 continuously since 1992. Those who know me will know they have all been various shades of blue and have all been as original as possible. Personally, I think the Rev 3 is the epitome of the whole MR2 timeline and am happy to discuss why but...
Finally, I love talking cars but please do bear in mind that we both work and so are often tired in the evenings.
