Here we have a rare and special classic 1975 Yamaha XS500 parallel twin. This is a totally original machine as it left the factory in 1975 , no mod's just bog standard. The condition is remarkable for a 45 year old machine and with only 8600 miles which is believed genuine, The chrome work is outstanding just look at the pictures . There are a few blemishes of course mainly on the left side of the tank and some scratches on the right hand silencer "they are only original once" (45 yrs of patina) I bought it from a very elderly man who had owned it for 30 years. In my ownership I
have carried out the following re-commission work = Strip/ clean and rebuild carb's. Engine oil / filter (Millers 20/ 50 semi synthetic sport oil ) adjust valve clearance, adjust timing chain and fit a pair of new Michelin Road Classic tyres and a new battery. I think I have priced the bike realistically as I have seen these up for as much as £4750. This is a great buy for someone's 1970s collection as it's a very attractive and desirable motorcycle or have as a weekend treat and club ride as it's a lovely comfortable ride with really nice handling qualities. I am 75. and quite short in stature, so the bike is just too tall and heavy for me to manage safely and that's the reason for the sale.
