ALFA ROMEO GTV 2000 from 1972, htp FIA, tc24, h1 period, perfect condition, CSAI TECHNICAL PASSport, ready to race. Additional spare parts separately, engine, gearbox, self-locking differential.
The Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV In 1971, the 1750 GT Veloce was replaced by the 2000 Gran Turismo veloce. The increase in displacement from 1779 to 1962 cm³ (150 hp SAE), was accompanied by numerous cosmetic updates: new chrome front grille; enlarged rear lights including reversing lights; and to the interior: new instrumentation and a new centre console grouped in 'four-leaf clover' style in front of the steering wheel; new front seats and new upholstery). The mechanical innovations involved equipping the engine with two double-bodied sports carburettors (either Solex or Dell'Orto), and the transmission with a 25 per cent self-locking Torsen differential (an accessory with which only a few examples were equipped, however). Optional extras included air conditioning, magnesium alloy wheels of the 'Millerighe' type made by Campagnolo or Cromodora, metallic paint and heatproof windows. The overall weight remained within the 1020 kg limit. The increase in performance brought the declared top speed to over 195 km/ h. The uncertainty of the figure was caused by the sporty derivation of the engine in the GTam version, which lacked a rev-limiter and was susceptible to variations in top speed depending on the gear ratios adopted. The average acceleration found on the untuned models was 7. 2 seconds (one second slower than the saloon variant) to reach 100 km/ h (the original test was done on the 60 mph benchmark), and the time of 12 seconds and 6 tenths to cover, from a standing start, the distance of 400 metres (i. e. the 1/ 4 mile typical of US tests). These measurements were made by the U. S. monthly magazine "Hot Rod" in October 1980. The magazine called the 2000 fast Alfa Romeo Gran Turismo "the only European car able to be called a 'muscle car'". The close relationship with the 1750 GTAm led to many GTvs being modified and used for track use, especially at historic rallies, thus considerably reducing the original cars available to collectors. The 2000 GTvs, in the 'Classic Alfa Romeo 2013', finished first and second in the overall standings in road configuration, ahead of the 1750 GTAm competition versions from which they are derived, as documented by the Italian magazine Autocapital in November 2013. An aesthetic detail that distinguishes the 2000 GT Veloce is the badge on the rear pillar of the car: it is the only one to feature an enamelled green snake instead of the conventional green or gold four-leaf clover. There are no reliable texts or reasons for this singularity. The 2000 GT fast coupé was produced until 1976 in almost 38, 000 examples of which 6, 337 were sold in the United States, and 5, 451 were right-hand drive.
