The classic and beloved Alfa Romeo sports coupe of the sixties, nick named the “Bertone coupe”, here presented in its final version, the 2000 GT Veloce. With 2 liter powerful engine producing 131bhp, larger front brakes, higher final gear ratio and limited slip differential on the rear axle. Basically an identical setup as the earlier models with disc brakes all around, 5-speed transmission and the fantastic “Nord” engine in aluminum with double overhead camshafts and 2 double carburetors. With its design and technic, the Bertone coupe was the epitome of a pocket GT car, with unmistakably Italian elegance. Smaller and more nimble than the larger siblings from Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini, the Bertone coupe provided much of the same spirit and driving pleasure but at a fraction of the price. Chief Technical Engineer Carlo Chiti, combined with the elegant and well proportioned design of the young Giugiaro gave the Bertone coupe from Alfa Romeo a much deserved reputation as a loved and cherished classic. The fact that the spare parts situation today is better than ever also support the joy of ownership, without ruining it.
The car presented here is in exceptionally good condition. Originally from Italy. It has since been restored a few years ago, both in bodywork and all mechanical parts. Painted in classic Alfa Rosso 501. It still looks really great today with sharp edges and perfect door fitment. The interior was redone using real leather. Mechanically, both the engine and gearbox have been completely overhauled, and you feel this immediately you drive it. Everything works perfect, and it is a real pleasure to drive the car. Engine pulls strong, gearbox switches smoothly, steering and brakes are just like they should be.
In fact, the only thing missing is a new happy owner who will enjoy it driving on the hilly country roads, or take it on a pilgrimage to the Dolomites.
