1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 350.
Outstanding lifetime California car I personally imported in 2019.
Fully UK registered with all paperwork. I bought it from California Cars of Simi Valley, California. A video of the car driving can be seen on their Facebook page dated 19 February 2019 leading me to purchase it on 3 March 2019. The video shows how good it is.
I had it photographed underneath up on ramps before purchase and the floors etc are remarkable and original with no corrosion as shown in photographs as result of California.
It's in its original colours of cranberry red with painted black stripes with white interior.
It has been painted sometime ago in the past in US but door shuts etc look original showing how good it is. The boot lid has original stickers on its inside and is totally rust free.
The sides are remarkably straight everywhere as are panel gaps.
Paintwork is outstanding from few paces but does have some blemishes close up as I bought it and is reflected in the price I paid and am now selling it at.
It looks absolutely stunning from any distance as shown in photos. I have not had it painted it at all.
This is a very reluctant sale as I need the space at home for another classic car I have.
Mechanically it is totally excellent throughout.
Fitted with a non matching numbers rebuilt engine some time ago in the US it has a 355 cubic inch engine with Edelbrock Performer aluminium heads, Edelbrock inlet manifold, Edelbrock carburettor, ceramic coated headers in an immaculate detailed engine bay.
The heads, carburettor and headers look like new. It is around 350 plus HP and runs through a 350 TH automatic gearbox fitted with shift kit. Exhaust is dual two and a half inch pipes, H pipe and Flowmaster silencers giving incredible exhaust sound.
The axle is a 12 Bolt Positraction limited slip differential with 3. 08 ratio( factory original was 2. 73). It has factory rear anti roll bar, factory tachometer dashboard and SS rally wheels with as new BF Goodrich tyres, power disc brakes and power steering, front bench seat all in accordance with VIN plate.
Engine itself is mechanically perfect and sounds really quiet in engine bay.
It has excellent oil pressure and water temperature is always perfect.
Suspension, steering and brakes are equally excellent.
Upon receiving it in the UK I spent considerable time detailing the underneath and protecting it with Rustbuster clear Waxoyl type protective to keep the structure as it was in California. My intention was always to keep it as it is so good. Photos will show how good the underneath currently is, a few showing it in US and a few after my wax rust preventative in UK. I have many more photos for anyone interested. In California the underbodies are not under sealed from factory and the lack of rust and originality can be clearly seen in US photos.
The car is remarkable in that it has no corrosion and everything looks absolutely original structurally.
The car has been kept in professional storage and has absolutely no deterioration at all since California.
I have the original Chevrolet warranty card and Protecto Plate showing it was first bought Anaheim, California, on 10 March 1972.
I have the original Chevrolet owner's manual.
I have spent my life as a professional automotive engineer and currently lecture in Automotive Engineering. I love cars and this Chevelle is really outstanding. It's structure and mechanical quality are truly outstanding.
It was advertised in the US, and the correspondence will show it, as an SS. It has all the factory parts to indicate this but, from my research, in 1972 the VIN plate stopped explicitly identifying an SS. All the VIN numbers support it but unfortunately I have no definitive Chevrolet paperwork to confirm it apart from the California Cars advert and correspondence identifying it as an SS so I am advertising it in good faith as an SS as I bought it. It has the full factory SS Z15 package with correct rear anti roll bar, dashboard etc. etc. Every detail is correct.
Most of all the car is outstanding.

As I say this is a reluctant sale. I am open to any discussion about the car. It drives perfectly and would make a great daily driver or movie car! The amazing looks and exhaust sound turns heads!
