Description
Peugeot 176 4tc Militaire. 1958. This rare bike was supplied to the French military for general duties, it includes the original leather panniers. The bike is in very good condition with no rust or major dents in the tin work. The bike has been shot blasted back to bare metal and repainted the original sage green (as found in the head lamp bowl). It has a tag saying the engine was rebuilt by the French army in 1970, and it looks and runs as if it hasn't done a great deal since then, a fact supported by the good compression. New cables, wheel bearings and chain. Brakes and gears all work well. Correct decals on tank and panels. The original carb is poor design and so changed to a Mikuni, it now starts and runs nicely (the original carb is in the pannier). For safety I installed a brake light when it was completely rewired with a total loss battery 6v system, to replace the erratic 'direct' system . A lovely bike for a ride out that makes you and the people who see it smile
