This 356 Speedster replica is a Covin kit built in 1989 so it is Tax and MOT exempt . It is made from 1971 Volkswagen parts . 1600 cc twin carb Beetle engine . Independent rear suspension with CV joints . It has an electric fuel pump with pressure regulator and inertia switch for safety in event of accident . Recently replaced front discs and calipers and master cylinder and a new alternator . I have owned it for 19 years and used it regularly . The interior is showing signs of use and could be upgraded . The steering wheel is a reproduction of one that was used in the 50s and is in perfect condition . The roof has rarely been used so is still in good condition , there is a tonneau cover which is sun faded and worn . It was professionally painted and is still in excellent condition . The panel fit is better than most . I did not want to make holes in the body so I used self adhesive chrome trim strips and had made vinyl speedster badges . I have the original speedster badges if you want to fit them . I had wanted a Speedster for many years and I eventually found this one . It was made by a company called Covin who made Porsche 911 replicas and wanted to try a Speedster kit . They were of exceptional quality but only a few were made . The kit included everything you needed to complete the build . I have taken it to Stoneleigh to the Kit Car Show many times and used to attend the Exeter Kit Car Show with it . I found it would drive happily on the motorway . Every where I went it got lots of attention and pleased every one who saw it . It is not a car for someone who does not want to be noticed , just driving down the street attracts attention . It was displayed on the Simoniz stand at the NEC in 2010 where it was well liked by all . It is ready for use and could be driven as it is and improved as and when required . I am selling as I am no longer fit enough to enjoy driving and maintaining it .
