Description
For sale is my much cherished and loved 1978 series 1 Laverda Jota. This is a Slaters Certificated motorcycle! Very low mileage of 5795 miles that is verified from previous MOT’s dating back as far as 1996 showing 3136 miles. A great looking and well cared for motorcycle. The previous owner who I bought it off had owned the motorcycle for 10 years and in that time had done 500 miles! The owner before him had also owned the motorcycle for around 10 years and had also done about 500 miles. I have owned this bike for the last 7 years. Knowing what little mileage the previous owners had done I knew I had a lot of work to do to get this motorcycle to run correctly. Carbs were ultrasonically cleaned with a carb repair kit, new gaskets, jets and seals. Lucas electronic ignition was replaced with a WITT system which included a 3 coil upgrade due to the high compression engine that Jotas possess. The bike was taken up to Peterborough to have the Master, Rupert Paul from Rupes Wires, (have a look on Rupes Wires website and you will see this motorcycle), work his magic. He built a complete wiring loom, fitted it, timed the ignition and produced a colour detailed wiring diagram for this motorcycle. For those that know Italian wiring, you will understand why I went down this route! Once back to me, more road testing and then I took it down to GEDS at GCS Motorcycles at Three Legged Cross Wimborne for strip/ clean and carb set up, new tyres, starter clutch springs, valve clearance and head re torque, replaced fork oil, oil change and service.
This is a great motorcycle and is absolutely beautiful to just look at! Turns heads wherever she goes. But riding it is where the real pleasure comes from! An amazingly fast bike for its age, even by todays standards! But that sound when she’s on song, absolutely iconic, individual and addictive! She just roars! There are two small paint chips on the tank, but I decide not to repaint as this is a original hand painted black pinstriped tank, not a transfer. The rest of the bike is in really fantastic condition. It has been featured in the Laverda Owners Club Magazine.
Thousands of pounds spent. Priced realistically as all the works been done.
