Description
Here for sale is my 1983 Z650 f3. The bike as can be seen in the pictures, is in very very good ORIGINAL condition. It has never been restored, and has the following original parts. Exhaust, Seat, Mirrors, Indicators, Rear Mudguard never been cut down. Original rear reflector. Tool kit, never used. Owners manual under the seat in its original pocket. Original chain guard etc. It passed its mot with flying colours back in July 2023, and had no advisories. This will be its last legally required mot, as it is now 40 years old, and as of the 1st of April 2024. is now registered as an HISTORIC VEHICLE . as i have now changed its taxation class from PLG to Historic. Since owning it, i have removed the cylinder head, and barrels. Pistons were spotlessly cleaned, New rings were fitted, after I had honed the barrels. The cylinder head was spotlessly cleaned, all valve seats recut, and all valves were refaced, and then lapped back in, and refitted with new valve stem seals. Head was then repainted black. Once reassembled, all the valve clearances were done and the cams were retimed. The cam cover was then vapour blasted and repainted. The carbs have been removed, cleaned thoroughly, and once refitted, balanced and the idle mixtures reset. The only reason that the above work was carried out was because the previous owner, by his own admission, didn't have too much mechanical knowledge, and consequently the valve clearances had closed up over his long term ownership. I wanted the engine to be in perfect running order, which it now is. The bike in my opinion, for a 40 year old, unrestored vehicle, is very very clean. This bike is NOT concourse, nor will i expect a concourse price. It is a perfectly useable classic that surely will only go up in value. I rode it for 25 miles or so a little while ago when we had a dry day????, as imo bikes that are stood up for ever and a day, seem to fair far worse than ones that are ridden occasionally. It does have the odd blemish here and there, which in my opinion unless its kept in a heated room, or had been fully restored is to be expected of a 40 year old classic. I m advertising it for £3850 but i am happy to receive sensible offers, and will happily respond to all offers received. I have been asked by a few people what my reason for selling the bike is? I unfortunately suffer with very bad arthritis in my hands nowadays, (old age and hard work all my life) and after riding for 25 mins my knuckles really start to ache!! It has unfortunately ended my motorcycling career. If you wish to speak in person about this bike i am happy to answer any questions you may have on the details below. My name is Pete. ThanksIn my opinion If you are looking for an appreciating classic, that can be ridden every day, i dont believe you'll go far wrong with this one
