Bought October 2018 as a restoration project, this 1984 Morgan 4 seater in Signal Red with Black interior, has the sought after Fiat Twin cam engine and 5 speed gearbox. This is a rare car with only 100 made to this specification.
MOT valid to August 2004, this car will not require Road Tax or MOT after April 2024.
Under the bonnet the single Weber carburettor has been replaced by twin Weber IDF 13/ 15s to give sparkling 2nd gear acceleration. An electric fuel pump gives prompt starting. The radiator has been re-cored.
There is a new chassis from GEE. Bodywork Metal & Wood as been refurbished where needed. Where possible the original paint has been retained with only the wings being resprayed.
Upgrades bring the rolling chassis to Morgan Plus 4 2008 level.
The front axle has new springs, shocks and discs with Mulfab 4 pot callipers for better braking.
To reduce steering effort, particularly slow speed maneuvering, spring thrust races have been incorporated with a Mercedes Steering Damper to stop the dreaded "Malvern front wheel dance"
The rear suspension features SSL 4 leaf asymmetric springs with hoop bar & Spax adjustable shocks to adjust ride from Smooth to firm.
Electrics have seen some re-wiring , new panel switches, additional relays and a new Alternator.
All wire wheels have been stripped & repainted, with new tyres front & rear.
