2 YEAR GUARANTEE, this is an extremely rare early Series 2, only 1701 were produced using the 2. 0 petrol engine from the Series 1 and of these only approximately 70 are known at present and few survive with the original engine, this not only has it's original engine but also gearbox and axles and more, the radiator is also correct date stamped as is the steering box plus 4 wheels are all 1958 date stamped, this is known as a 'matching numbers' example which if you know Land Rovers is the holy grail of rare finds, a full nut and bolt restoration has just been completed and I believe this is the best Series 2 for sale and possibly one of the best you would ever find, the original engine and gearbox have been fully stripped and reconditioned plus new clutch fitted, the radiator was professionally restored, the original chassis was beyond saving so a new galvanised chassis from the experts at "Richards Chassis' was fitted and this is their "replica" chassis which is built to the exact specifications of the original and has been painted black for authenticity, the original bulkhead was shot blasted and professionally repaired before being rust treated then sprayed, all the axles were stripped and fully reconditioned with new chrome swivels plus all new bearings and seals, steering box reconditioned, new wiring loom, new brakes, new leaf springs and shock absorbers, new fuel tank, all the bodywork was restored and sprayed as individual panels, new front door bottoms/ tops plus new rear tailgate were required, all body cappings were re-galvanised and refitted with the correct rivets, wheels shot blasted then sprayed and fitted with 600x16 Avon Traction mileage tyres, Exmoor Trim canvas soft top plus the 'Elephant Hide' front and rear seats, the original dash panel and instruments were also restored as was the steering wheel, the list is endless so to summarise every aspect of this has been taken care of, 2 owners, original 'Buff' log book and it's original registration, current V5 is present, HPi clear, 2 year in house guarantee with ourselves, simply must be seen to appreciate, - details above 1701 PRODUCED AND 70 IN KNOWN EXISTENCE, VERY RARE MATCHING NUMBERS, FULLY RESTORED, BEST AVAILABLE
