Unique History
A piece of motoring history, a term too loosely applied these days though
in this instance quite apt. Period correct in every detail this high spec 145
Deluxe model comfortably transports you back fifty years with a wonderful state
of preservation throughout alongside a unique ownership maintenance and storage
history, do read on.
First registered 01. 11. 1974 by Buchanan Volvo of Glasgow to a Mr S this is now a
historic vehicle and as such tax & mot exempt though a recent mot has been carried out
in the interests of transparency. Mr S was a Volvo trained technician, his apprenticeship
dating back to the 60s and ordered his new Volvo from the West End Glasgow dealer
collecting on the 02. 11. 1974, the original sales invoice is intact in perfect condition.
Now wearing prefix XHJ 727N the number issued on delivery was GUS 149N which became
redundant after a cherished number had been in place for so long.
The 145 was in regular use from 74-86 by Mr S until he became self-employed starting his
own Volvo specialist garage having racked up a very modest genuine low mileage in twelve
years. At this stage he retired the car, stored it correctly and always serviced it
despite the fact no actual road miles were covered. The V5 shows one keeper, zero
previous.
The condition is wonderful, barely worn in places, be mindful this car has been owned
by the one dedicated enthusiast Volvo master tech since new in November '74, it was
only used on UK roads 74- 86 being routinely serviced and garaged by him when he
retired her in 86. Nothing has ever been altered from original spec. All glass is
factory etc. A wealth of original literature accompanies as pictured in the gallery.
The colour combination flatters the lines and suits the model well. Note the
larger bumpers, fitted away from the car body, '74 was the first model to
feature this in order to comply with US collision regulations.
The appeal of this transcends many generations and tastes, harking back to a simpler
time and perhaps something better in us all, being around it is like therapy in itself.
Deserving of the right home, whether that be a collection, museum, or film prop.
The originality is breathtaking for a motor that is half a century old, now and again
you stumble upon these gems, which are becoming harder to find, and with modern day
restoration costs being extremely expensive its worth considering what a nice one of
any marque is actually worth long term now. When you factor in originality, genuine
parts and no workshop downtime chasing your vision in someones else hands, for this
classic Volvo the quality and integrity of the purchase should remain long after the
price has been forgotten.
A very rare opportunity with a 10/ 10 score card on all fronts.
