1966 Hillman Superminx 1725cc in Kingfisher Blue. This car is 2 owners from new up to me it has the more desirable 1725cc engine and is on its original engine and gearbox which has done 87843 miles at the time of writing. The car is in very original condition not fully restored more preserved by it's Rootes mechanic owner. It was owned by the same family from 1968 until 2018 and used to be their family car up till 1982 when it was laid up in dry storage. The Hillman used to pull their caravan to the coast ( have great photos of the car in the 1970s included in sale ) and was their only family car for years. The car is a pleasure to drive pulls well gearbox is smooth the Hillman is oil tight and has new brakes throughout including brake lines and a full set of new matching radial tyres. The car is solid underneath had 2 new sills in the 1970s but these are still good underside is very good trim is good with some wear but original. I did put new carpets in the car in 2019. The car has loads of paperwork including original service history and brochures (pictured). The Hillman is not concourse but is in lovely preserved original condition as pictured and is perfectly usable and we show it regularly The paintwork is presentable the chrome is worn but still presents okay and again the bumpers are the originals the front fog light has been on the car since new still works. The Hillman even has the parking light in the glove box which still works when attached all the chrome trims are good as pictured just an nice original car that can be used.

This Hillman is very original the previous owner who has now sadly passed away was a Rootes mechanic all his working life. The Hillman was one he used to service and admire at the dealership and when it was part exchanged at 2 years old by it's then school teacher owner he decided to but it from the dealership. This then became the family car from 1968 to 1982 when he laid the car up in dry storage. The Hillman used to pull their caravan down to the coast every summer I have photos of it and was used everyday to get the family around and was always garaged. The car has the service book stamped and comes with original handbooks and brochures. The Hillman drives lovely has no faults is super comfortable surprisingly nimble and fast and feels like a modern car to drive these were great cars well over engineered for the 1960s. I am finding I am not using my classic cars just seem to be too busy these days with other commitments so we are looking for a good home for the Hillman some one who can give the car more time bring it up to spec more and drive show and enjoy it. The Hillman always attracts attention wherever it goes I am very often the only Hillman at shows as these are a very rare car now. Spares availability I find not too bad using the forum and Speedy spares, not that it needs anything.
