Very rare Peugeot 402 Legere Coach Découvrable, believed to be one of only nine known worldwide.
Sympathetically restored to preserve the magnificent patina.
The seats, door trim panels, carpets and even the hood are completely original.
The coachwork was completely restored and painted in it's original delivery colour of Pistachio Green.
Various items were re chromed during the coachwork restoration.
All the mechanical parts of the chassis, suspension and transmission have been restored and maintained to a high standard.
The engine was recently completely rebuilt, including fitting a new crankshaft, pistons, bearings, valves etc.
When the previous owner saw this Peugeot for sale at auction, it was in need of some care and attention, to say the least.
He told me that he never thought of buying such a car but something attracted him to it - it's elegance, it's charm, and, more importantly, his wife agreed!
Soon after they purchased the car, he instructed Atelier Automobile of Berlin to carry out a complete body off restoration, with strict instructions to not over restore the car, preserve as many of the original items as possible and to ensure that the finished car be as reliable as possible. This restoration work was completed in 2009 at a cost of approximately 40, 000 Euro's.
We purchased the Peugeot from the previous owner in 2017 and have enjoyed every moment of driving it.
We have toured quite extensively throughout Europe during our ownership.
In late 2022 the engine underwent a complete rebuild and has since covered circa 600 kilometers.
As the coachwork is relatively light in weight, the Peugeot zips along swiftly and is an absolute delight to drive.
We have recently added another classic to our collection so it is sadly time to say au revoir to our beloved Peugeot.
I have kept a comprehensive photographic record of all the work carried out during my ownership and I believe that Atelier Automobile of Berlin have photographs on their website.
The car is currently registered in Germany, viewing and test driving can of course be arranged.
