Outstanding Volvo 940 Auto estate 1996 in metallic Silver. An appreciating Classic in Good condition, rust-free, and very quick with the famous red block engine and low-pressure Turbo. Very clean and unmolested with 99, 548 original miles, 9 months MOT with no advisories, good tires and pristine interior with only appreciable wear on driver’s seat side support.
It appears searching around there are no late 940’s (1996/ 7) advertised anywhere and these were the very last and probably the best Volvos ever. Super comfortable especially for tall people like me even a long drive with great performance and low-cost servicing. I have always had Volvos but the 940 is by far my favourite, this being one of four I own. Ideally, I would like it to go to an enthusiast who will appreciate and care for it the way I have.
The car features aftermarket Radio but the original is available if required, heated seats, electric mirrors, air conditioning working as it should, central locking, immobiliser and alarm. This is a private sale and advertised elsewhere so may be withdrawn at any time. This car is 27 years so may have some very minor blemishes commensurate with its age but the paintwork shines with no lacquer peel and is rust-free. The car is well maintained and anything required has always been done without hesitation to ensure its reliability. Finding these reliable, capacious, strong comfortable cars in this condition today is getting harder as so few remain especially with such low miles. This is a reluctant sale but I need to make room for my son’s new project.

It's my thinking these will appreciate in value very considerably over the coming years especially when preserved in good condition. These cars have no equal I can think of, taking into account they are a very generous sized practical estate and so comfortable for long journeys with superb seats and lots of leg room. All very analog which I prefer as I can find everything in the dark. Easy return 30-35 on a long run, easy and simple to service, and plenty of power when you need it. I have waxoyled the underside and all vulnerable parts and it's an exceptionally well-preserved example for its year.
The car is smoke and pet-free and spotless inside. The engine bay is clean and there are no oil leaks which can be common on these.
Over the years and having driven so many miles in these cars, I would argue that whilst some may say they are not so economical when you way up the low service costs, the fact they will appreciate in value coupled with low-cost classic car insurance it's a no-brainer that these make much economic sense. These cars are ideally suited to the home mechanic and most service parts are still readily available. Not many people know this but they have a limited slip diff below 15kph and self-levelling rear suspension known as Novamats. They are fully self-contained shock absorbers that correct the ride height as soon as you start driving, no compressors or fancy electronics to worry about. My love affair with Volvos started decades ago and I have always appreciated the solid engineering, reliability, performance, adaptability and comfort of these Swedish marvels. These were the last of the true Volvos before the company was sold and what came after was nothing like as virtuous as these motoring icons.
