The Station Wagons saw the first expansion of the Land Rover range. Station Wagons were fitted with a "Safari Roof" which consisted of a second roof skin fitted on top of the vehicle. This kept the interior cool in hot weather and reduced condensation in cold weather. Vents fitted in the roof allowed added ventilation to the interior. While they were based on the same chassis and drivetrains as the standard vehicles, Station Wagons carried different chassis numbers, special badging, and were advertised in separate brochures. Unlike the original Station Wagon, the new in-house versions were highly popular.

I have always had landies, this one has such style and causes one to smile! I had hoped I could occassionaly tow with this one but I am too spoilt with more modern cars and have put a hitch on my 5 series which is much easier to tow with so this one has to go!

I think I'm the 5th owner, one chap had it 40 years. He rebuilt the chassis in 2019 but unfortunately passed away, I bought it from the person (he had planned to keep it but had too many cars!) who bought it from the daughter who was handling the deceased estate in early 2022, it had lived in the same shed for 40 plus years,
It’s all original, but has had chassis and bulkhead repairs plus replacement door tops in 2019, I didn't think the main body has been painted.

The engine, gearbox and drivetrain etc. are all original and perfect condition, it's quite possible that the 34000 is original mileage, in the last 40 plus years it’s hardly done anything, they used it occasionally to harrow the horse paddock.

It's an orginal safari station wagon which is incredibly rare due to tax relief on the LWB Station Wagon in the 1960s making the SWB more expensive so only 8000 were made with most exported to North America market with rebuilt one now making well over 100, 000 dollars.

There are no water leaks only oil leaks as usual, it’s the original radiator, see the width of it, replacement one are much narrower,
I have a Heritage certificates from the previous owner, I can send some images of the floors which are all good condition, I've only driven it a small distance and all works as it should, it’s so original it still running on Positive Earth, push button start original keys which is incredible for a 60 year old vehicle,

Looks like 2nd owner acquired it new, maybe a pre registered vehicle from the Dealer.
