1924 BSA L 350cc OHV Elegant, Sporty Flat tanker
A superb, early example of BSA?s first OHV bike introduced in 1923, this sporty Flat-Tanker is in lovely patinated condition and remains very original and has been subject to recent work and is ready for her next owner.
Designed by Harold Briggs, its design emanates from the Hotchkiss engine that powered the BSA Light Car - this sporting BSA achieved success in both the 1923 and ?24 Scottish Six Days Trial and quickly established itself as a reliable sporting mount, and was given the slogan following its competition success, by BSA in sales literature in 1924 ? Invest in a B. S. A. for satisfaction, reliability and sterling value??
This lovely example of its 350cc overhead valve was purchased by myself a couple of years ago, having been in hibernation for many years in a collection, in a large barn in Norfolk. Her owner had put it back on the road in 2006, but had pretty much retired from riding by the time I purchased her. She?s recenyly been thoroughly gone through and benefits from a full mag refurb (receipts included) along with a gearbox rebuild and starts easily (1st or 2nd kick) and runs well. On the road she has a nice bark from her straight through pipe and pulls really well and is surprisingly quick for a bike of her age and the brakes have recently been overhauled, so she pulls up well for a 1920?s bike on dummy rims.
Her petrol tank is in original paint, with a glorious patina and the rest of the bike has a lovely mellow aged look and bikes like these are getting much harder to find, in an unmolested, original condition like this one.
She comes with the V5 in my name and I am only selling as I have numerous flat tankers and vintage bikes, which get more use and I have recently purchased a sporty 500cc vintage, so have decided to let her go. Take her on the Banbury Run or for a ride through the lanes on a sunny afternoon and this little BSA is guaranteed to put a smile on your face!
I can send a link to the bike running -please message me.
