For sale is my rare MX5 MK1 RS (Rally Sport) Limited Edition Eunos Roadster. 1 of only 500 originally made in Japan, a very clean example complete with genuine Recaro Carbon Kevlar racing seats. Widely regarded as the best and most desirable specification the MK1 came in.
Genuine low 72k mileage (116km), this car has full service history and long MOT until April 2024 (no advisories). Only 2 former owners before me, first imported by a UK car dealer and then kept by its last owner since 1998 with no expense spared.
It is rare for such a complete and original example to come to market, as the Recaro seats often got removed as well as other parts stripped, so unique for such a complete example to be offered anywhere for sale.
All the original features of this model are present including:
- Lightweight flywheel
- Yellow strut brace
- Bilstein dampers with new coil springs
- 15-inch BBS alloy wheels, plus all centre caps and locking tool
- New soft top roof in mint condition
- Electric wing mirrors
- New original Panasonic gel battery
- Original Nardi black leather steering wheel included, plus Momo wheel currently fitted on the car
- Roadster Mats in excellent condition
In January 2023, the car had a full engine service (all new fluids, spark plugs, filters etc.). The electric aerial was not working smoothly at the time, so my local garage fixed this with a new OEM original part and is now all working perfect again.
The metallic paint and bodywork are in excellent condition for its age and present nicely as shown in the pictures. The interior of the car feels clean and fresh, with a high-end Kenwood stereo system fitted. The sills and arches are in good condition, with no rust or related issues. MOT history is very clean with no signs of any historic rust or any other major issues during its lifetime.
An immobiliser is fitted for additional security. In the boot there is the spare wheel, jack and locking nut tool present. The originality of this car has to be seen to be fully appreciated. This car would make a great addition to any collection for investment or can be enjoyed and taken to shows. The gearbox operates nice and smoothly through the gears and the engine feels strong. The exhaust has a great note and the car feels special when driving.
Worth mentioning I do also have a set of the very rare RS side skirts which were a factory only option. These are very hard to find and I did not get round to having them fitted on my car. So if the new buyer is interested in them, I'm happy to also discuss selling these separately by negotiation.
Only selling due to London ULEZ where I live, having owned this rare car for a few years I?m no longer able to enjoy it as planned and so it has been moved to storage in Derby. No doubt this car will remain desirable among other MK1s and appreciate over time.
