Velocette Viper Clubman 1964.
This machine is a genuine Clubman as prepared by the Velocette factory to meet the first owners specification . This is confirmed by the log book which describes it as "Viper Veeline Clubman" although the machine no longer has its original streamlining.
The Velocette features rare upgrades only available at the time of ordering when new , in particular:-
1. Competition Magneto with red label
2, Chromometric clocks by Smiths
3. Original and correct clubman tank
4. Borrani Rims front and rear
5. Wing nut steering damper
6. Close ratio gearbox featuring the "R" suffix after the serial number
7. Period aftermarket handlebar levers
8. Rear set footrests , gear change and brake
9. Correct headlamp brackets for the clubman model
Furthermore the motorcycle retains in 1964 registration number and the fold out log book , this Velocette was originally supplied by J J Double of Gants Hill ( later Warwick and Double) Subsequently registered to Elite Motors of Tooting and a very few private individuals . All but two are recorded within the original log.
This machine has been known to the Vendor since 1976 and has had only three owners during this period , the last one for over thirty years
The machine was part of a recent garage find and whilst not ridden for some considerable it has proved an easy starter . It has been test ridden prior to sale and performed well with brakes , clutch and engine working fine ( without undue noise). Electric system is fine with dynamo working well with lights, horn operational , the rev counter works okay but can be a little sticky on occasions.
This Velocette offers great patination and superb originality , it is not a clubmanised representation but the genuine item . Rare enough to find a Venom to this specification let only the rarer 350 Viper model
