In 1965 Porsche introduced the 912 as an entry level model and some would say it handles better than the similar bodied 911, having a smaller and lighter 4 cylinder engine.
This lovely LHD 1966 example was imported from the USA in 1999, restored, prepared and used for classic rallying competing in the 2000 Monty, 2001 Classic Marathon, 2002 Winter Challenge in Barcelona, to mention a few.
The car had a Francis Tuthill 5 speed gearbox overhaul in 2011 and an engine refresh in 2012.
I bought the car in 2014 and have used it in a few tulip rallies along with attending many shows.
When I bought it, it required some front end structural work which was done by the renowned Porsche rally specialists Francis Tuthill, further to that, the Webber carburettors were refurbished by Northampton Motorsport in 2019 along with fitting electronic ignition and an engine tune on their rolling road. The max power was recorded as 104hp, which is higher than Porsche claimed for the car originally.
Also is 2019, the front and rear suspension was rebuilt by MCE Porsche along with a full suspension alignment.
With its light weight, the 104hp and the correct suspension set up, this classic Porsche is fantastic to drive.
The car is tax and MOT exempt and comes with the original distributor, a set of snow tyres and several other spares along with a large history file.
This would be a very astute purchase at this time, as prices for these cars are only going one way.
