For sale is my 1993 W124 320 Coupe. The car is finished in blue black metallic with grey leather. I am the 5th owner of the car. Mot is due in April 2024.
I have 2 keys and an aftermarket alarm system is fitted with an immobiliser. Service booklet is nowhere to be seen unfortunately but I have a few invoices to go with the car as well as the original handbook and folder.
All electric things work perfectly - sunroof , headlight wipers , seatbelt extenders are all perfectly operational.
Rust has been treated in the usual areas, front arches are new, roof has been re-sprayed as well as the bonnet, the car is very solid and will not require any rust work/ treatment for a very long time.
The car is on AMG monoblock style wheels with almost new tyres. It drives superbly, no knocks or bang or unwanted noises, very smooth.
In my ownership, a basic service has been carried out a few months ago. New vacuum hoses, all coils and leads are new.
It has had an LPG kit fitted in 2015 by EcoTec. The kit has been looked at thoroughly and few items replaced and checked over and it switches over and runs on gas perfectly and as it should. Personally, I have never ran it on gas and not fond of the idea but it is there and usable if the next owner wishes. It can be easily removed and sold on. I have all the paperwork for the kit from when it was fitted.
Unfortunately, there is an issue (hence the price!) the car has lost reverse. The issue happened on my doorstep which was convenient. There is an oil leak coming from the gearbox which is causing a loss in vacuum pressure. As the engine and gearbox runs off the same vacuum, the idle fluctuates when the engine is cold, then it starts to behave itself when it’s warmer and when the vacuum builds up a little. This has been diagnosed by several garages. The car will come with a spare gearbox which came off an identical car (part no. 722. 369) which I am told is good but I can’t guarantee it.
It is a 7th car hence why I have no enthusiasm to carry on with it, I have several other classic Merc’s which require my loving and investment and unfortunately, even though it is a beautiful example and a 320, I need to focus on my other cars. I have a new set of number plates to go with the car to freshen its look up as well as the plastic trim in the front bumper on which the number plate sits on. The one currently on the car has a light crack. I also have a spare steering wheel to replace the worn one currently on the car.
It is completely drivable however I would recommend a trailer to pick it up, I can arrange this at buyers cost nationwide.
