A rare and beautiful 1966 XLCH 900 Sportster, this one was imported from the USA in October 2020 as a non running project, the bike is now UK registered with an age related plate and the V5 in my name. The bike has matching engine and frame numbers 66XLCH2067 and now starts, runs, rides and stops as it should with no oil leaks, rattles or smoke - please see the walk around video link of the bike starting and revving - please email me and I'll send it through. In order to get the bike up and running it needed a new carburettor, clutch plates, primary drive chain and tensioner - see photos, the bike has been fully serviced with all of the oils changed, new plugs and the brakes stripped, checked and over hauled. It's a kick start only as you'd expect for 1966 but it's an easy starter and always starts first of second kick. The electrics have been restored before import, are tidy and everything works as they should, the alternator charges with a green light, the handle bars have the original switchgear and the horn and main/ dip beam are all in excellent condition and the lights/ brake switch are all perfect. The petrol tank and mudguards have been stripped and painted with base coat and two pack lacquer and look fantastic. The chrome work is amazing and the wheels, swinging arm, forks, oil tank, rear shocks, lower engine casings, engine mountings, foot peg mounts, exhausts and their mountings, original handle bars and switch gear are all in excellent condition, please note though that the chrome on the rocker boxes is flaking, as per the photos. It has a new front tyre and I've included in the sale a GPS speedometer but I haven't fitted it as I like its minimalist, classic lines. Up close the bike looks better in the flesh than in the photos and it's a real head turner and crowd puller whenever you pull up. Since restoring the bike two and a half years ago I've done over 2000 trouble free miles on it and I've thoroughly enjoyed owning it, however I'm now downsizing and I need the space for the winter so it's got to go. Sensible offers considered, thanks for looking. I've owned many bikes since I was a teenager but I've never owned a Harley Davidson so when I retired I was encouraged by a friend to break out from British classics and bought this as a project. Since getting this one running it's changed my mindset and I've now owned a few Harleys in the last couple of years, character, performance, classic styling etc. the older the Harley the better, just love them. This is an absolute classic and is now in fantastic condition to own, ride and enjoy. I've owned the bike for 3 years and done over 2000 miles on it but I now need the space for more projects this winter so have to let it go, This bike looks, sounds and rides as the ultimate 60s revival, it you look at modern Sportsters they haven't deviated much from this so it's a great piece of motorcycling history
