A rare chance to buy a unique and extraordinary Pilot caravan one of only a handful I have seen and I think she was probably custom made for a showman family which is what these larger Pilots or pan loafs were often used for.
She is approx 1949 and has all of her coach built interior intact, she is a solid, aluminium panelled single axle van who when towed around the farm is pretty nimble. she is authentic with all of her soul intact. I bought her as a bit of a shell of her former self but had fallen in love with her and went about investing a huge amount of my creative soul and energy into her to bring her back to life.... slightly mad in retrospect as I ended up having three to breathe new life into...!! but as lover of classic vehicles I took it on as they had character and quality you don't see in anything built these days so they were worth saving.
In her interior she has a small double bunk bedroom at the rear with sliding door and you can make a large double bed from her seats in the main sitting area which has a hobbit stove that I had put in to make it a wonderful warm and restful space.
she has a well equipped kitchen in the middle as you enter with cupboards an original sink and small pull up table, she comes fully kitted out with all the crockery and soft furnishings lanterns etc that I used with her when she was used an artist creative retreat.
She needs a bit of tlc to bring her back into shape.. her roof needs an overhaul reseal and repaint which I used to do every couple of years but haven't done it since the retreat business finished 2 years ago.
If you wanted to tow her she would also need looking at underneath to make her road worthy but if you wanted to do what I did you could put her up on blocks and build a cover over her and use her for variety of different things... a studio, sanctuary, office space, spare room an income generator as airbnb... etc.
She has character and a real wow factor and a lovely peaceful atmosphere... she is old school and is a switch off kind of space. no electricity just firelight and candlelight but again she could be rigged with a solar panel if you wanted to upgrade her... I just liked the switched off unplugged thing.
She needs someone who will invest some love in her to bring her back to being extraordinary... after 14 years of owning 3 beautiful Pan loafs and being so grateful to have been the custodian of such unique vans it is time for some new custodian to invest energy into them.
Size wise she is approx 21 foot long, allow an extra 2ft for hitch, 8/ 9ft wide approx a ton.
she would need to be trailered to her new home and I have the number of a great towing specialist guy if interested.
I am looking for someone who gets it and wants to use and love her, sensible offers from the right person considered.
I will be showing her when the weather gets a bit warmer hopefully in Feb.
She is currently on a farm in Devon and I am in Bristol so we would need to arrange a meet up between us for serious interested buyers.
