Presented in Chariot Red and trimmed in red hide, this desirable factory right-hand-drive Twin-Cam is a very late example (allegedly one of the final eleven cars).
A heritage certificate contained within the history file confirms the authenticity of this being a rare Twin-Cam model. It was supplied as a ‘Complete Knock Down’ (CKD) kit i. e. exported in component form to South Africa where it was then assembled. Thus it has always been a right-hand drive car and though supplied in kit form in primer, the trim was originally red and the hood grey - which is still how the car presents today. The car remained in South Africa until the mid-2000’s whereupon it spent a short period in Austria followed by Germany, before making it home to its UK birthplace in 2013.
It is well known that the MGA Twin-Cam suffered from engine maladies in period. Fortunately this example has been fully rebuilt in 2019 by the notable specialist Peter Wood of Westwood Portway Ltd, Buckingham. Suffice to say everything is documented in exquisite detail within the history file (including a raft of photographs) and the final bill equating to £14, 000 should provide ultimate reassurance that it was done properly! The car starts without hesitation and quickly settles to an even and purposeful sounding idle. Once on the move thereafter it does not disappoint, pulling very eagerly and revving freely whilst the four speed gearbox also selects all ratio’s smoothly. The brakes too (discs all round) work well and pull the car up reassuringly without drama.
Bodywork and brightwork is also exemplary, with the hood in good operable condition with a non-crazed clear rear screen. Any inspection is welcome, the car is for sale at Leavenhalls Classic & Prestige in Shropshire.
