Description
BMW Alpina D3
2008 BMW Alpina D3 (Mono Turbo) number #462 in sparkling graphite grey. Full specialist service history. 4 previous keepers, owned by me since March 2022 and previously by another enthusiast for 5 years. I am part of the Alpina owners club.
77900 miles which may rise slightly. Last serviced at 74527 using Millers motorsport engine oil. Wheels fully refurbished last year, with genuine centre cap badges and Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tyres all round. This in itself cost over £1300.
The car has never failed an MOT or had an advisory (excluding “two chassis numbers” common on those who are not familiar with the marque).
Lots of the common issues have been resolved glow plugs, glow plug controller, crankcase breather, thermostats etc. As the car had not done a lot of miles on purchase it had all the vital fluids changed, including coolant, brake fluid, gearbox and rear diff oil at the BMW specialist, The Workshop in Leeds. The swirl flaps were deleted at the same time. A new Bosch battery was also fitted.
The bodywork and interior are all excellent condition, I am extremely picky when it comes to this. On purchase I stored the Alpina mats and replaced them with genuine BMW mats mainly because they are hard to come by now and wanted to keep the unique parts for special occasions. The boot has always had a protector in.
I am also a professional detailer and use only the best products and safe processes for washing the car. The wheels are protected with Gtechniq C5 and the bodywork is always subject to a safe wash and spray wax on top on my own protection process.
I genuinely believe this is the best, un modified D3 MT available with many now falling in to the affordable category but not being appropriately cared for.
Obviously this is not a brand new car, there are some small stone chips on the front lip spoiler. There is a slight flywheel noise, common on E90 BMWs but there is still lots of life remaining in the clutch. I have accounted for this in the asking price.
The main reason for sale is because its too nice to use as a daily driver in my opinion but not really what I want as a second weekend car. Its a very capable daily driver but I am too precious of the car to keep putting miles on it. I will probably live to regret this decision as I’ve wanted a D3 for a long time and really good ones are very hard to find.
The original head unit is included as pictured but I have upgraded it to a Blaupunkt CarPlay / android system, in my mind in keeping with the brand but making it more practical to use. I spent a long time finding the correct adaptor plate to make it look as factory fitted as possible. The head unit is linked to the steering wheel controls and reversing sensors as per the factory system.
I have a folder full or receipts, I am one of these that documents everything in chronological order! plus all the book packs, with the important extra Alipina books and both keys. I am based in Halifax West Yorkshire.
Please contact me with any questions. Time wasters / chancers will not be tolerated and there will be no test drives without fully comprehensive insurance. However I am happy to take any genuine person for a passenger ride.
I have likely forgotten some parts but happy to answer any further questions or provide further details. The price is firm, but I may consider a part exchange for an early Porsche Boxster in the launch colours but ideally id rather sell this to a fellow enthusiast. There were only 358 D3's imported to the UK and Sparkling Graphite is one of the rarer colours. I spent quite a long time finding the right car having looked at quite a few tired examples. This car often has comments around its condition, and I have been told on many occasions to keep it locked away as an investment. I see it as a possible future classic but also as a great unique daily driver. What else can you buy that has a unique build number and the heritage of the Alpina brand. I may live to regret selling this car. These do drive like no other E90, using Alpina's know how to create a great handling and fun usable classic.
