Description
The Alpina D5 S Touring is built in Buchloe, not on a BMW production line. Each car is individually assembled in the Alpina workshop, including a numbered plaque on the centre console. The 3. 0 litre six-cylinder diesel has three turbochargers, two high-pressure and one low-pressure, producing 408 ps and 800 Nm. That torque is available across a wide rev range, which makes the car surprisingly swift despite weighing over two tonnes. This unit is currently registered as a light commercial vehicle with the original rear seats available for a potential conversion.
Fun fact: the cooling system has three external coolers on top of the standard BMW setup. Without them, the engine cannot reliably sustain its output in all conditions.
