Great example of a Series IV Alpine in excellent original condition, having been fully restored by a previous owner in the 1990s - photos available.
This is the 1600cc GT version with matching numbers (engine and chassis) - retaining its original wooden GT gear-knob, wooden-rim steering wheel and polished walnut dashboard with working map-reading light. It has working overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears and the original removable hardtop. There is an original jack and spare tyre, the wheels still retain the original chrome pressed metal hub-caps, and there are fog and spot lights to the front. No radio or other "modern" interventions, other than a stainless steel exhaust. This car is not "concours", but you will struggle to find a more complete and original version of this make and model, finished in Carnival Red as it was when it left the factory sixty years ago!
The car has been well looked after with all MOT's required (now exempt) in my ownership over the last 15 years. It has been garage-stored and generally only used during the summer months.
Recent work by specialist Edinburgh garage includes: full service; new thermostat; new starter motor; re-cored radiator; new cylinder head gasket and engine-block skim; new master cylinder (brake) as well as calipers and pistons; new water pump and pipes, and new battery.
Selling due to lack of good use recently, and asking for £12, 500 excluding the number plate - I will replace with a date-related plate at point of sale. The car can be viewed and inspected outside Edinburgh by appointment.
UPDATE: number plate believed to be original to car, and available by negotiation, should buyer wish to purchase - all offers considered!
I have enjoyed using this car over the last 15 years - it is free to tax, cheap to maintain and insure, with most parts readily available from specialist suppliers, and there is good support through the owners club. It always draws attention and starts and stops reliably. Please contact me for any further details.
