Austin Healey Sprite Race/ Hillclimb/ Sprint Car For Sale. Owned since 2002 it was originally my road car for a couple of years then modified for use in the MGCC Speed Championship and from 2017 raced in the MGCC Cockshoot Cup until the end of the 2023 season.
Brief spec.
1970 Austin Healey Sprite built for MGCC Speed Championship and Cockshoot Class B. Competitive car, 2nd in Cockshoot Class B 2022 and 2023, and lots of Speed Championship awards. Scope for further modification if desired. Original shell and registration and still road legal. Full Safety Devices cage, decent seat and in date harness and extinguisher. Comes with passenger seat and harness if required. Bonnet, boot lid, front wings and hardtop are lightweight fibreglass. Gearbox is Ford Type 9 Five speed with BGH Geartech Long 1st conversion and shortened tail housing. Front dampers are adjustable lever arms from the renowned Peter Calder. Windows are Polycarbonate but can still be lowered and working door locks still fitted.
1380cc engine (original block from new), Arrow Rods, PME race+ cam, 1. 5:1 rockers, big valve head, Maniflow inlet and exhaust manifolds, 45 Weber
PME lightened steel flywheel and clutch, 5 speed BGH Type 9 gearbox, TranX plate type LSD, PME halfshafts
Front suspension - PME springs, ARB, Neg trunnions and top link kit. Peter Calder adjustable dampers
Rear suspension - PME springs and panhard rod. Welded in turrets with adjustable telescopic dampers
Brakes - PME front 9” discs and Wilwood calipers. Rear drums with Mintex racing shoes and Wilwood proportioning valve.
Custom made under boot alloy fuel tank with 25l capacity and foam filled.
Should be eligible for MGCC Speed Championship, Cockshoot Cup (Class B), Midget and Sprite Challenge (Class E) and possibly one of the CSCC or Equipe series. Car is low geared but due to 5 speed box is still good for even the longest circuits (just about hitting max revs at end Silverstone Hangar Straight) and still useable on the road with the dampers backed off. There is a spare set of wheels with road tyres, a limited selection of spares and a pair of good steel front wings. PRG trailer also available (similar to Brian James Minnow).
