Triumph spitfire 1500 finished in stunning British racing green with original beige upholstery for sale. Extensive bodywork and repaint with photos to prove carried out over the last 2 years including new boot floor and rear valance, new front wings and wheel arches as well as new headlamp support panels, all fully under sealed. New gaskets and body seals where fitted where necessary. New wiper blades.
Whilst the body was off the chassis has been rebuilt front to rear with new bolts and every bush changed. The new bushes include all lower and upper suspension arms, new steering rack bushes and bolts, new anti roll bar bushes and clamps and triunions. New wheel bearings were fitted along with new brake callipers, pads and discs on the front and new rear drums, shoes, cylinders and fitting kits to the rear. New brake hoses and hard lined fitted through out with a new master cylinder. Everything received a lick of paint. Stainless steel bolts have been used where possible throughout.
New springs and shock absorbers were sourced and fitted with new stainless steel top plates and the original steel wheels painted then shod with new Toyo tyres all round.
A new clutch was fitted along with all new hydraulic components. The cylinder head gasket was replaced along with new studs and updated mini head nuts. The head was skimmed. A new thermostat and water pump along with new sender units where fitted to compliment the new radiator hoses and updated aluminium radiator. A 4 branch manifold was fitted connected to a stainless steel exhaust with twin exit pipes. The vehicle has recently had a new accuspark ignition system fitted along with a new updated ignition coil. The vehicle retains its original HS4 carburettors, which have been cleaned stripped and rebuilt with genuine SU parts. It retains its original airbox which I think is rather nicer than the pancake filters on other cars.
Electric wise it’s had new wiring harness from auto sparks, (£500+) NOS hazard switch, new alternator, wiper motor and screen wash pumo in a new bottle with stainless clamp. head lamps (H4 conversion type) and new front indicator/ sidelight units fitted. A new indicator switch and new flasher relays. The starter motor has been refurbished professionally and a new starter relay has been fitted. The rear lights have had new gaskets fitted to them and the number plate lamp units are new replacements. Speedometer has had a new drive cable, along with new throttle and choke cables. A new fuel sender and a flushed and sealed fuel tank was fitted with new hard lines and inline filter.
The interior has received new carpets through out, and new seat foams but retains its original seat covers. It’s fitted with a NOS original triumph gear knob, and original style steering wheel. The dash faces have been re stained and lacquered. All the gauges work including the seat belt light. Boot has been trimmed in carpet with a removal panel to access the fuel sender.
I have 100s of photos of the car in various stages of work. Prior to my ownership she was laid up approx 20 years. I have the V5 in my name. I’ve spent over 7500 on this car with many receipts to prove but please bear in mind she is nearly 50!
