Hi, I'm reluctantly parting with my Triumph Spitfire as I've had back surgery and can't drive it for too long.
It's a 1975 Spitfire 1500, and I'm its 3rd owner. It's my daily vehicle. I look after it like the apple of my eye, it's never slept outside and I polish it regularly. It's always kept in my garage, under fabric protection. The few times I've driven it in the rain, I've always dried it. It's got overdrive, which works perfectly, and as it's my 'daily', and I'm a mechanic by training, it's completely reliable. To do this, it has a larger radiator than the original one, so it heats up much less than its siblings. I fitted sports brake pads at the front and changed the drums at the rear. I fitted a new battery and added a glove box. Above all, I fitted a 123 Ignition electronic ignition with Lucas coil, to avoid problems when it's cold! I've also changed the universal joint, and the carburettor is finely tuned! I do all the oil changes on time, and do the engine oil change at Motoreco VL. I add grease to the axles regularly. As far as equipment is concerned, it has a hardtop, an Italian wood and metal OBA steering wheel, and a new soft top (still in the packaging as I write these lines!) with spn soft top cover, and the bumper stops are new. It has 13' anthracite Minilite wheels (12' on the original model). The exhaust system is stainless steel (but not the complete line). I also fitted a stainless steel grille (rare, made to measure in the UK), giving it a nice smile :-) The MOT has just been carried out without any problems.
I'll be giving it away with consumables (filters, puncture spray, etc) as well as the jack and a tool kit.
Like all vehicles of this era, the bodywork has a few spots of surface rust, and a few spots of perforating rust on the underbody and wheel arches (but nothing really serious). This is a car for enthusiasts, and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
