After 20 years we are reluctantly selling our 1991 G Wagen . It's been our much loved family car since 2004 and while its mileage is on the high side, we've done the last 122 thousand ourselves mostly to the shops , the school run and more than a few excellent camping trips. Definitely no extreme 4wheel driving, but lots of great adventures. Before us there were 5 previous owners. It has approx. 11 months MOT / 5 months Tax.
It’s had lots of work done over the years , we have a file full of receipts of work history . It’s just had a new head gasket, radiator and pipes etc, new steering tie rods and ends, as well as, exhaust heat shields, windscreen wiper linkage etc etc (total £7. 5K ) - so it runs like a dream!
Paintwork is generally good, it has the expected stone chips and scratches etc for an everyday car of this mileage. We just repaired a 50p sized rust hole over the rear wing, otherwise very clean.
We’re selling with the full roof rack, ideal for bigger adventures than school runs!
The interior is the original fabric (the rare grey coloured stripe) , we just had a very nice repair done on the front drivers seat where the seat cushion had worn out, but otherwise all in good condition for the age. The front passenger side electric window doesn't open so might need the mechanism/ motor looking at.
The car has been a totally reliable family work horse for 20 years and we’ve very happily thrown tents, boats, canoes, bikes, new sofas etc on the roof or in the back. We’ll miss the waves from the other old Gwags as they pass and being constantly stopped on the street by people reminding us what a cool car we have! It will be will be sorely missed and we hope it brings as much joy to the new owners as it has to us.
