1972 Alfa Romeo S2 Spider 2000 Veloce in excellent condition. UK RHD car originally supplied to a customer in the Channel Islands, re-imported and first registered in the UK in 1978. Complete restoration of basically very sound car over the last two years with bills for £17, 500 (and a great many hours spent!). 79, 000 miles. MoT until January 2025 (although as a historic vehicle a MoT is not necessary). The car drives very well.
Exterior: A perfect paint finish with no chips or blemishes. The outer sills were replaced two years ago, no other significant repairs identified or necessary when the respray in Alfa silver metallic (AR737) was completed last year (the original colour was ivory). The underside of the car still has much of the factory finish and no corrosion.
Interior: Original interior in black vinyl with rubber mats (new mat in boot); period radio retained but not fitted. New lap and diagonal safety belts. Hood and folding frame mechanism are both in good condition with separate rear cover.
Mechanical: Engine and gearbox: original 2 litre engine, upgraded with: 45 DHLA Dellorto carburettors, Colombo & Bariani CB48 camshafts, 123 programmable electronic ignition, Alfaholics stainless steel tubular manifold and exhaust system. Gearbox rebuilt with new bearings, seals and synchro hubs. New complete clutch unit; new prop shaft joints and bearings. New radiator and coolant hoses.
Electrics: New battery with isolator switch. In addition the starter motor has been replaced with a Powerlite high torque lightweight unit and the mechanical fuel pump replaced with a Facet silver top electric fuel pump and FilterKing. New halogen headlamp units.
Brakes and suspension: New front and rear brake discs, pads and flexible pipes, properly working servos. ClassicAlfa fast road suspension (upgraded springs, shock absorbers and front anti-roll bar). Original steel wheels refurbished and fitted with new Goodyear 185/ 65R14 tyres (including spare).
Spares: The majority of original parts have been retained. The rear anti-roll bar and links have been removed but kept.
There is a comprehensive file, with invoices covering much of the car’s recent life. The car had a comprehensive service less than 100 miles ago. Whilst the original service book is not present the ownership manual is.
