This is a rolling chassis of a Mk 1 MGA Coupe and is a left hand drive model. It is offered for restoration/ parts as a project, as there is no documentation with it. It is not known why it has spoked wheels only on the rear, but a change of half shaft would allow a change back to steel wheels. Included with the chassis is a bodyshell and front and rear wings which require significant repair. (NB, trailer is NOT included!)
I already own a healthy MGA Coupe, which is a joy to drive. The car being offered was purchased as part of the restoration of that healthy MGA so is now surplus to requirements. Within the bodyshell can be seen a timber frame that was used to brace it when it was lifted off its chassis. Many potential MG owners go for MGBs, but the MGA is a rarer vehicle (particularly the coupe) and is very much the iconic 50s sports cars. There are very many similarities between the A and the B, so the restoration of this A should not hold any particular fears for an enthusiastic restorer, as the vast majority of parts are available from numerous suppliers both in the UK and overseas.
